We are happy to have individuals and groups interested in helping with the Garden from April through October. We post volunteer updates on the Events page, via our Garden email list, and on the signboard at the front of the Garden.  See below for volunteer opportunities.

If you or your group would like to volunteer, please use the Contact page on this website, or email us: 87thStreetGardenNYC@gmail.com.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • We typically schedule a monthly garden volunteer day on a Saturday or Sunday. Activities vary by the time of year, from raking and weeding to planting garden beds to clean-up of terraces and children’s play area to various improvement projects like arbors and pathways. Visit the Events page for details.
  • In addition, we welcome volunteers to help us with scheduled upkeep on a regular basis, like garden bed maintenance (minimal), general clean-up, regular watering (especially important in summer), setting out trash, and opening/closing the Garden gates.
  • Lastly, we can always use extra hands for an hour or two to help with scheduled events like jazz concerts and our annual Halloween event. Visit the Events page for details.
